With his experiences from the past, Akeem uses that as a reminder to persevere through whatever live throws our way and do it in a positive manner. Years later he become an olympic medalist, an NCAA all american, and most importantly a graduate from the university of Alabama. Akeem excelled on the field and on the track and won many different awards. Akeem started getting involved in sports, mainly football and track and field. Falling back into tough times, his mother and him struggled to find stability, in a span of 5 months they moved 7 times to different homes and eventually found themselves homeless in the middle of winter time at the age of 13.Дown but not out, with the help of some friends they were able to get back on their feet. Finally, Dan is a double veteran of the Army and the Air Force.Д«orn in savlamar Jamaica, akeem didnвЂ™t have much of an advantage from the beginning, with limited options, and tragic events happening in his life, he moved to Canada with his mother seeking a better life. In addition, Dan is a Teacher Consultant for the University of ConnecticutвЂ™s Writing Project.

Dan was with the team that put forth ConnecticutвЂ™s new Social Studies FrameworksДЄnd is also a member of the Special Education Advisory Board to the Connecticut State Department of Education. He teaches Special Education and Social Studies in ConnecticutвЂ™s largest inner-city high school where he was chosen by the AFT-CT as the face and voice of educational reform and is now on the speaking circuit for them. Dan has now successfully completed fourteen years of college and has earned seven degrees. However, Dan admits that as a youth he was more of an athlete than a student. Dan Blanchard the Best-Selling Author, Award-Winning Speaker, and Educator, as well as, two-time Junior Olympian Wrestler, and two-time Junior Olympian Wrestling Coach grew up as a student-athlete.
